Scottish neo-soul singer-songwriter Jill Brown releases her first new track for 2026 - Shadow Fighting - on Friday 9th January. Profits from the new single will go towards helping young people involved in the criminal justice system record their own music. Co-written with composer and pianist, Euan Stevenson, Shadow Fighting is a powerful song about resilience in the face of adversity. It marks a progression and maturity in Jill’s sound and is her latest collaboration with producer Lewis Gardiner, former the drummer in Prides.

In tandem with being an artist, Jill is passionate about giving a voice to people who end up in prison. She founded Scotland’s first record label for ex-offenders, Conviction Records, at the end of 2020. The label has delivered highly successful hip hop and songwriting workshops in Glasgow’s largest and most notorious prison, HMP Glasgow. Jill has performed there several times alongside prisoners, as well as playing more conventional venues with her band like King Tut's Wah Wah Hut and the Clyde Auditorium. Promotion for ‘Shadow Fighting' includes a press, radio and social media campaign throughout January highlighting her work with offenders.
